What and Why I Paint !

As an Artist the Abstract and Modern Paintings that form the majority of my work are painted as oil on canvas although occasionally other media are used for colour studies and experimental paintings. oil Paint offers the artist an paralleled vibrant and exciting finish that simply glows with energy and colour.

Most of the artwork I make is abstract, yet draws on natural subjects such as the landscape and figures as inspiration. As an Artist by simplifying the image to its basic forms and shapes the pure nature of  the subject can be explored freely, without the complications of social expectations of prejudice clouding the subject.

Colour is a vital element within most of my paintings, adding greatly to the visual appeal that these paintings offer even to those who would not normal appreciate Abstract Art. Along with the use intense  colour many paintings present the qualities of of texture and line enhancing the eye-catching qualities that these paintings offer.    

Why I Paint !

For most of my life a Traditional Painting style dominated the paintings and artwork I produced. However some years ago I found that to understand a particular subject I had to explore the reductive process of Abstraction so as to understand the complex shapes and movement of a single line, From that point on I was hooked...

Art is has become for me a visual narrative. A Communicating the Story of us, as people. As an Artist I am revealing this story or poetry through the hidden and raw potency the visual impact Abstract art has in our lives. It has the power of colour to excite or calm the human sprit, along line, shape and form to create a balance and harmony in a painting that goes far beyond the expected value and implications of the simple pictorial image.

My Painting often examine the contradictions of life which I have found even more fascinating than the simple realities that we often think we perceive. The strong bold colours, texture and lines that make painting unique and individual expression of the physical and emotional world of ideas that spring from the human mind.

Why Paint Abstraction's ?

Abstraction is many ways more demanding and challenging than traditional painting of a visual image, abstract art is devoid of the normal references of image and as a result requires much more consideration and planing. The Elements of Composition, Colour, Shape, Line and such alike become even more significant within the abstract Painting 

It is the difficulties perhaps that have made Abstract Art my Passion. It opens my mind to something unimaginable. It brings thoughts, experiences and feelings you can only find in something you truly love alive, forcing yourself to explore and develop new and exciting ways of seeing and experiencing the world. My challenge as an artist is to relate this in a way that others can grasp just as easily.

It is often a great surprise and delight to me to meet and communicate with all sorts of individuals from every walk of life and financial level who find my art fascinating and interesting to buy. Over the years I have come realise that there are only a few reasons that people love and buy original paintings from me that said, Art is a very personal thing, there are perhaps as many reasons to own art as their are individuals.
